About the Temperature Converter
This temperature converter runs entirely in your browser. Enter a value, pick the unit you're converting from, and see all four temperature scales instantly update. Nothing is uploaded — all math happens on your device.
Conversion formulas
All conversions go through Celsius as the intermediate step.
- Celsius → Fahrenheit: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32
- Celsius → Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
- Celsius → Rankine: °R = (°C + 273.15) × 9/5
- Fahrenheit → Celsius: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
- Kelvin → Celsius: °C = K − 273.15
- Rankine → Celsius: °C = °R × 5/9 − 273.15
How to use the converter

Frequently asked questions
Why is 0 K called absolute zero? It's the lowest possible temperature, where all thermal motion stops. It equals −273.15 °C.
What is Rankine used for? Rankine is an absolute temperature scale using Fahrenheit-sized degrees, common in some engineering fields in the US.
Can I use negative numbers? Yes, but values below absolute zero (0 K, −273.15 °C) are physically impossible.
Does this tool save my data? No. All conversions happen locally in your browser.
